Over the last 6 months I have developed quite an affinity for succulents. They look pretty by themselves or with flowers, they don't require a lot of maintenance or water (I've been known to kill many plants in my day), and they look amazing for both indoor and outdoor decor.
One of my favorite things to do is combine them with fresh flowers to put on a coffee or accent table.
Thankfully my mom is a bad ass
florist and has showed me her mad skills over the years...But now we can show you!
- Floral container of your choice
- Oasis Floral Foam Brick (soaked in water)
- Floral Stem Cutter
- 3 medium to large succulents
- Mixed flowers
Insert the oasis brick into your floral container. Depending on the shape you choose, you can use a knife to cut the oasis to fit your container. Cut the stems of your succulents on a diagonal.
Place all 3 succulents into the oasis and evenly space them out. Next, add your bigger "filler" flowers around the edges.
*Tip: Hydrangeas are the perfect "filler" flowers to use in floral arrangements because they cover a lot of space allowing you to spend less money on other blooms.
Now you can finish off the arrangement by adding your smaller flowers. Cut your stems on a diagonal and place them into the arrangement by pushing them into the oasis.
*Tip: If using roses, remove the outer "guard petals" prior to putting them into the arrangement.
And there you have it!
